i was recently told this by a jw family member when trying to get through to them.

does this quote indicate that maybe such ones have considered that the jw's may not have the truth after all?

or is that just my wishful thinking?

I am fully awakened to the fact that the Bible is a text open to human interpretation, therefore, this is just another religious organization based on their ever changing take on said literature.

Having been indoctrinated for life, it's become my natural choice in worship.

I have really, really, really tried hard, but just can't deal with the "anything goes as long as you're not hurting anyone" attitudes of today's world.

I am truly a walking contradiction: Dislike preaching, the many meetings and assemblies, etc., and yet, in my heart of hearts, even with my procedural disagreements, being a JW and sharing with other like-minded is what brings happiness into my life.

Crazy situation. I know.

Post Convention Euphoria

(a lot of my jw friends have forgotten i'm on their followers list) .

smiling faces standing next to convention posters with comments like 'nope, i'm not giving up.

The Org is moving right along with today's society; lots of visual aids and videos. Every single disertación had a video in it.

Really liked it this year; very entertaining.

What religions/organizations aren't a cult?

so we've already established that most religions can be classified as high control groups, we can name the wbts, church of scientology, lds, etc.

the list goes on and on.

but are there any religions or organizations that aren't classified as a high control group or aren't as bad as the ones i've just mentioned?

Child abuse in its many forms exists everywhere, not only in this or any other organization.

How it's dealt with is where the problem lies. When an accusation of sexual abuse is presented, why first call the Legal Dept. instead of the local authorities? Why not advise the victim to report it to the authorities immediately?

Cult + Time = Religion. Thus say some religious scholars.

Not all cults are bad, say others.

Political parties are cults. We can easily see how the rabid base of the GOP will follow their dear leader no matter what.

I love my friends and relatives, so I sacrifice time, energy and resources in this religious organization. There's a lot of good in it, so I accentuate that and keep on going.

I believe ALL religions please and also anger Deities in some way. The WTBTS is just one more religion in search of God, fooling themselves by asserting that they're the only truth.

Marry only in the Lord

the second half of 1 corinthians 7:39 reads "...she is free to be married to whomever she wants, only in the lord.".

so we all know that scripture for being doctrine for witnesses when they select a marriage mate and how they are strictly encouraged to marry amongst themselves and look down upon or marked if they marry an outsider.

i have a friend who met a worldly man and when it came to light, her father gave her the option to end the relationship or to marry him, and she chose the latter.

Sad for sisters that want to comply with this biblical mandate. Tough, as there are about 20 females for every available and marriage-worthy male.

I only hope they make the best position choice in case they choose among outsiders. No like this girl that went outside and got with a bump that knocked her up and she's now back at the KH, abandoned. Not well educated, her future looks grim.

Marriage is tough either way. Best to choose someone with whom there's lots in common.

JWs Reaction to BBC Report

for months i have been telling my friends - very devout jws - about the problem of child abuse in the organization but it wasn't until they saw the bbc report that they finally believed it.

(i made mention of their reaction in an earlier post.).

today they have emailed me to say the bbc report has hit them really hard.

In the Spanish RC too, the speaker spelled it out loud and clear about the responsibility parents have and how to spot people that might want to hurt your child. I felt a talk like this one was long overdue and should be given at every assembly, and even made into a public talk on Sundays.

I see in the Spanish side that parents are very trusting of everyone, and many parents (no education, perhaps without legal papers) have to work so many hours just to make a living; then they keep having children they cannot care properly for, so they start trusting just about anyone as long as they are JWs, and that's a danger right there.

This type of public talk deserves much publicity and repetition until parents understand how to properly care for their young.

Then again, if the abuse comes from within the child's own home, how can that be the Org's fault?

Change their policy to turn all accused abusers to the secular authorities and they have a winner!
